What does Victim Services do?

Assists co-victims to cope with the impact of the crime and trauma through emotional support, information, and referrals. This includes:

Supporting co-victims while awaiting interviews and during meetings with Homicide Investigators.

Supporting individuals during identification of the victim (if required).

Liaison with the homicide investigation team.

Ongoing contact and support as different issues/concerns emerge.

Providing Alberta Victims of Crime program information and forms.

Practical Assistance – providing information, answering questions and updating co-victims on court status (if charges have been laid).

Court Support – assisting the family and co-victims through the criminal justice system, this may include Court Accompaniment

Community Referrals – assisting in finding long-term supports and services for families and co-victims.
